With more than 34 years of experience in environmental compliance and natural resources management in California, Susan V. Christopher, PhD, combines a rigorous scientific approach, local resource knowledge, thorough understanding of environmental regulations, and positive agency relationships to enable unobstructed project approvals. She excels in all areas of natural resources management to guide site development and conservation efforts using ecologically sound principals to efficiently meet project goals.

Dr. Christopher is an expert in the ecology of Central Coast amphibians and reptiles. She holds a federal 10(a)(1)(A) recovery permit for the California tiger salamander and California red-legged frog. Past state authorizations easily reinstated include a California Department of Fish and Wildlife Scientific Collecting Permit for amphibian and reptile Species of Special Concern, fish, invertebrates and mammals; a state Memorandum of Understanding for California tiger salamander; and northern goshawk and California spotted owl broadcast surveys.

Susan practices living in balance with nature in the La Panza Range east of Santa Margarita. In 1999, she purchased a large undeveloped parcel down a rugged dirt road. Today it is a working ranch and homestead – a slice of paradise. Current projects are breeding Nigerian dwarf goats and livestock guardian dogs, and implementing permaculture techniques. She understands the desire and challenges of making your aspirations a reality within California’s regulatory framework and economic environment.
